NEYSA’s 1st Annual Punt, Pass and Kick Contest held on October 23

Wilson Jr. Lakemen hosted the 1st annual NEYSA Punt, Pass and Kick (PPK) contest on October 23 at their field.  Many players attended and competed under wet conditions.

The following was our top three winners in each weight category:

PEEWEE

1st place – Preston Loncar from North Tonawanda
2nd place – Vinn Martin from Lancaster
3rd place – Noah Johnson from Wilson

FRESHMAN

1st place – Alessio Battaglia from Clarence
2nd place – Matthew King from Lancaster

JUNIOR VARSITY

1st place – Cannon Converse from Lancaster
2nd place – Jacob Austin from Wilson

NEYSA’s 4th Annual Youth Symposium/Parents & Players Clinic on JULY 20 (revised June 12)

On July 20, NEYSA held its 4th Annual Youth Symposium/Parents & Players Clinic at the home of the North Tonawanda Athletic Association (NTAA) field located at 1241 Strad Avenue in North Tonawanda.
The event began promptly at 6:00 pm with introductions by the League’s President, followed by a presentation by Dr. Lee Krol, a physical therapy specialist, who talked about proper body mechanics and warmups for youth athletes.  This was followed by remarks from Aaron Hill, USA Football’s East Regional Manager.  At that point, all parents and players came onto the football field to participate in the interactive presentation of USA Football’s HUF Shoulder Tackling and Blocking techniques.  This hand-on activity was be led by NEYSA’s Player Safety Coaches (PSC), NEYSA member organization’s coaching staffs as well as local high school football Head Coaches, Rob Currin and Chad Bartoszek.

In addition, Bruce Nicholas from Riddell Sports was on hand to display a variety of products for the football players.


YOUTH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

The Brissette Sports Performance organization is offering a “Train to Play Youth Football” series of programs to enhance the youth football players’ skills. The training program will run from June 12 through July 31 of 2017 at the ALL IN SPORTS facility in Cheektowaga.

The first session is limited to twenty five (25) participants.

NEYSA PLAYERS AND COACHES PARTICIPATE WITH THE BUFFALO BILLS ROOKIES

On September 29, the Buffalo Bills Toyota Rookie Club hosted a youth football clinic at New Era Field which was attended by over 150 participants.

Bills rookies like Shaq Lawson (LB), Kolby Listenbee (WR), Reggie Ragland (LB), Kevon Seymour (CB), Adolphus Washington (DT), Jonathan Williams (RB), Bryson Albright (LB) and Cardale Jones (QB) spent time teaching the football players some fundamentals of the game including HeadsUp Football tackling and blocking. Also in attendance were a number of NEYSA coaches assisting the Bills rookies in the event.

NEYSA PRESENTED THEIR FIRST NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competition

On August 29 at 7:00 pm at UB Stadium, NEYSA held a NFL Punt, Pass and Kick (PPK) Competition.  Due to the tremendous response in registration, we were not able to complete the event that night.

NEYSA held the continuation and conclusion of the event on September 9 at Niagara Falls Junior’s field..

WNY YOUTH FOOTBALL DAY AT UB STADIUM

Join UB in celebrating Western New York Youth Football Day at UB Stadium and enjoy the UB season opener versus Albany on September 2 at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10.00 each for players, cheerleaders, coaches and their families with all players and cheerleaders taking part in the “High Five Tunnel”.

NEYSA MOMS PARTICIPATE IN THE 3RD ANNUAL MOM’S CLINIC WITH THE BUFFALO BILLS AND USA FOOTBALL

On August 2, fifty Western New York Moms ventured to St. John Fisher College in Rochester to take part in the 3rd annual Mom’s Clinic hosted by the Buffalo Bills and USA Football.

Many of NEYSA Moms were in attendance where they gained knowledge in a classroom lecture with a panel discussion led by John Murphy, the voice of the Bills as well as the Heads UP Football (HUF) initiatives presented by USA Football Master Trainers, Ken Stoldt and Rob Currin.

The Moms were then taken onto the field for some hands-on training in the HUF Tackling and Blocking fundamentals followed by meeting some of the Buffalo Bills players and even Mrs. Kim Pegula.

USA FOOTBALL PROTECTION TOUR

On July 30, 2106, the Buffalo Bills hosted the USA Football Protection Tour at the Adpro Sports Training Center in Orchard Park.  This free half day football camp provided information for players and parents and showed the fundamentals of Heads Up Football including: equipment fitting; concussion awareness and health and safety tips.

NEYSA PRESENTS THEIR 3rd annual “YOUTH FOOTBALL SYMPOSIUM/PARENTS & PLAYERS CLINIC”

NEYSA presented their 3rd annual “Youth Football Symposium/Parents & Players Clinic” on June 1, 2016 at the Niagara Falls Lasalle Preparatory School at 7436 Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls, New York.

Over 250 parents, grandparents, guardians, players, coaches and even Referees participated in this event.

Aaron Hill, USA Football East Regional Manager opened the event with discussion regarding USA Football’s new initiatives and the emphasis on the current protocols including: Heat and Hydration; Concussion Awareness; Equipment Fitting and Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Ken Stoldt, USA Football Master Trainer and Section VI Football Chairman then brought everyone onto the football field to demonstrate and perform the Heads Up Football Tackling and Blocking drills.

USA FOOTBALL SELECTS NEYSA FOR PILOT “HEAD COACH’S CLINIC” PROGRAM

NEYSA, the largest youth football and cheerleading organization in Western New York, was selected by USA Football to present a new program intended for training Head Coaches.  This program was presented on April 16 at the Starpoint High School in Lockport, New York and was attended by over fifty NEYSA head coaches.  The program was presented by USA Football Master Trainers – Ken Stoldt and Rob Currin and included classroom as well as hands-on education and training.  The program was intended to provide each Head Coach with the information necessary for them to go back to their respective organizations and train their assistant coaches in the elements of the HeadsUp Football (HUF) initiatives, including: HUF Tackling; HUF Blocking; Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SAC); Concussion Awareness; Heat and Hydration and Equipment Fitting.

NEYSA PRESENTS INAUGURAL CHEER COMPETITION

NEYSA presented our inaugural Cheer Competition on November 1, 2015 at the Niagara Wheatfield High School located at 2292 Saunders Settlement Road in Sanborn, New York.

This Cheer Competition was open to all youth/recreation; High Schools; Colleges and All-Star programs.

Ninety Moms from throughout Western New York attended the 2nd annual USA Football and Buffalo Bills “Mom’s Clinic” demonstrating to them the initiatives being implemented throughout youth football by certified Heads Up Football (HUF) Leagues and Organizations.

Many of the attending Moms represented NEYSA proudly while participating in the classroom lectures, where concussion awareness, heat and hydration, Sudden Cardiac Arrest and equipment fitting was discussed and then the on field hands-on work of HUF tackling and blocking.  After the training was complete, our NEYSA representatives were able to meet some of the Buffalo Bills players and then watch the Buffalo Bills scrimmage.
